Travel Spotlight: Historical Town of Warwick, UK
Friday, 1 March 2013
A couple days ago I had to take my car to garage to get the aircon re-gassed in a very pretty and historical town closeby my house called Warwick. After getting the car stuff sorted I thought I would take a walk around. Its crazy that even though this town is only 30 mins from my place I haven't visited it since I was verry small. There is a really beautiful and old castle in Warwick which I visited during a school trip but you know how life just kinda takes over and you neglect the things that are right on your doorstep...yeah that happened.
I knew that the castle was really grand and beautiful but I didn't realise that the town itself was also really stunning. The centre of the town so small and cute! There was a little museum in a lovely old historical building filled with tea houses, restaurants, pubs...and the obligatory Ye Olde Sweet Shop that transports you to a Diagon Alley-esque world lol ...I took a peek inside but somehow I managed to resisted the urge to buy anything.
I did however stop by the only store which sold cosmetics, Superdrug, and picked up two Barry M Nail polishes...one Gelly and one Textured. I have the textured one on now and let me tell you its beaut! Photo coming very soon!!

Asian Wedding Exhibition at Leicester City Football Club
Thursday, 21 February 2013
Hi guys! I've missed you! How are you all doing?? My sister will be getting married some time next year so a couple weeks ago myself, mum and sis decided to check out an Asian Wedding Exhibition at Leicester City Football Club organised by Asian Celebrations.

It was my second time attending a wedding fair. I went to one a couple years ago at the Platinum Suites in Leicester with my best friend when she was organising her wedding. This one at Leicester City FC was much larger with more business in attendance. We went there with a pretty open mind just hoping to find out more about the different companies/services in our area (Warwickshire / Coventry / Leicester) and get some idea of pricing. There were lots of people there!! Businesses included different venues around the area, marquee hire, catering companies, mandap hire, decorators, photographers, DJs henna artists, makeup arts, and more! All the stalls were set up so beautifully, there were some stunning displays of mandaps, table settings and room themes, makeup artists were offering free makeovers and everyone was so friendly! The atmosphere was buzzing and we had such a lovely time!

Fashion Spotlight: Golden Globes 2013
Monday, 14 January 2013
The Golden Globes is one of my favourite events during the awards season when it comes to fashion. I would even go as far as to say I prefer it over the Oscars...maybe because it celebrates both film and television. I haven't had a chance to watch any of the actual ceremony yet but here is a little run down of the red carpet couture.

#BloggersChrimboBox Swap with Sam from Kawaii Cherry
Thursday, 3 January 2013
When I heard that the lovely Grace from AllThatSlap.com was organising a Christmas Beauty Box swap I couldn't help but jump on board! I love the excitement of mystery beauty boxes! Grace paired everyone up and a couple weeks later I got an email from her saying my swapping buddy is Sam from Kawaii Cherry!! Woohoo!! I'm sensing we were paired because of the cherry connection lol!
After a few email exchanges we got a good idea of eachother's likes and dislikes and also decided on a £15-20 budget. I have to say I had so much fun putting her box together! I actually was putting a few different beauty boxes together at the time for other friends too so had lots of product idea's in my mind!
So this is what Sam sent to me! Woohoo! I love all the gifts! I love citrus scents so the Satsuma Body Shop body butter was right up my street! The Korres lip butter in Quince is so lovely and moisturising, I've been using the heck out of it since I got it! lol My favourite item of all is the beautiful nail polish by Ted Baker. Its such a gorgeous deep navy blue colour, almost black and with a very fine microglitter adding a stunning shimmer and elegance! Its totally my kinda colour, I absolutely love it!!

My first Korean Dining Experience at Assa in China Town, London
Wednesday, 2 January 2013
Last month during a weekend in London I met up with some friends for dinner, one of which is a really good friend of mine who moved to the US but was back here on holiday for a week. She asked me if I could organise the restaurant which is always slighting dawning with there are a group of us, many of whom I didn't know very well.
I was a little selfish and decided I really wanted to try Korean. I'd never had it before but recently I've become so fascinated with all things Korean and Japanese all thanks to CrazyPopLock...I'm talking asain skincare, cosmetics, food and general culture. I even came across this really awesome YouTube channel called EatYourKimchi where this super fun and quirky Canadian couple who live in Korea talk about K-Pop and show us around Seoul to all these cool places and restaurants. They are soooo fun to watch and they do this freaking awesome series where they go to a new restaurant each week trying a different type of Korean food and explaining it to us....oh my god...the foooooooddd....soooo drool worthy!!! So after watching all these vids I reeeeally wanted to try Korean food!! After tonnes of research...yeah I know what your thinking...tons really?! yeah I found lots of cool food blogs (check out The London Foodie and The Skinny Bib) and after reading through lots of restaurant reviews I finally decided on this place called Assa in China Town.
There were 7 of us and because we were all new to Korean we picked a bunch of different dishes and all shared between us.
Here come the (slightly blurry) sexy food shots...
Doesnt it look good?! Just based on this one experience, Korean food is definitely very different to Chinese. It is more spicy, I feel like it has more depth of flavour and complexity of ingredients. I absolutely loooved it and I'd serious recommend this restaurant! The restaurant itself and the ambiance is nothing special and not be honest we did find that we were feeling cold inside but the food was really great so this wouldn't stop me from going back...in fact I really can't wait to make another trip there! Also all this food plus a few rice bowls, about 10 alcoholic drinks and complimentary tea in tap came upto just £120 inc service!! Split between the 7 of us that was just £17.14..so cheap for London! It might not look like a lot of food for 7 people but with rice it was a alot...we all were so stuffed we couldn't even finish the hot pot.
It was also my US friend's birthday so I baked this cake for her to celebrate and we ate it in the restaurant for dessert...
So if you're in London and fancy some unpretentiousness good asian food check out Assa Korean Restaurant at 23 Romilly Street, China Town near Leicester Square tube station. There is also a branch in St Giles Street in Soho but I went to the China Town one.

No Korean meal would be complete without a bowl of the Korean the staple kimchi (spicy fermented cabbage) ...I wasn't a fan
Mandou which are Korean Fried dumplings (we picked the pork filling) and some picked garnishes
Pork barbecue...this was my favourite! Spicy but a little sweet..I can't describe it...it was just so damn good!
Soba noodles with veggies
Chicken barbecue...slightly sweeter than the port but still good with a nice kick
It was also my US friend's birthday so I baked this cake for her to celebrate and we ate it in the restaurant for dessert...
On a side note...check out this very random (but beautifully painted) full sized dude who was staring back at me while I did my business lol..,

#BBloggersXmas Epic Blogger Meetup!
Tuesday, 25 December 2012
Last weekend I went to London again to a fabulous and much anticipated Christmas beauty blogger event #BBloggersXmas organised by the lovely Lola from LolaStarHeart.com and Victoria from Vik Beauty at the Reebok Bar in Canary Wharf.
It was so much fun! There were over 60 bloggers there, some who had travelled from as far as Yorkshire just to be there! Many of us had been chatting on twitter the weeks leading up to the event so it was so lovely to put faces to names.
There were also a few brands at the event including Soapbox PR, Bad Apple Cosmetics, Twisted Sista, Aromatherapy Associates, Diva Hair, and the lovely ladies from Slendertone who I met at the previous blogger meetup (here).
Lola and Victoria did such a great job at organising everything! They created a quiz for us all to test our beauty knowledge and believe me it really did! Those questions were hard but a fun way for us all to get chatting :-) They also organised some delish treats like yummy cake pops and Popchips...soo good!! On top of that there were some lovely ladies doing free treatments! Anna from Aromatherapy Associates was giving hand massages, Diva Hair curling bloggers hair with their products (check out the pic below of the rather interesting (read kinky lol) looking hair tong and the Reebok Spa ladies were giving complimentary OPI manicures. I had my nails manicured and 10 days later my manicure still looks damn good...just minor tip wear, no chips (yes I have been really lazy and haven't changed my polish! lol).
oh btw I bought a new camera!! The Canon SX40! This was my first time taking it out and I really wanted to test it out a little so after the event I decided to stop by London Bridge and take a few snaps...I still have a lot to learn about the settings but I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out :-)
Thank you so much Lola and Victoria for organising this amazing event! I can't wait for the next one!

Dove Shea Butter Indulgence Christmas Gift Set
Thursday, 20 December 2012
I have really dry skin so moisturiser is the one product I can never do without! The one brand that I always go back to is Dove. Their products are all always so moisturising, smell luscious and never let me down. So today I'm reviewing Dove's Shea Butter Indulgence Christmas Gift Set.
This gift set comes with three products all inside a gorgeous white washbag. The bag itself is really pretty and elegant. The outside of the bag is made of a quilted faux leather type of fabric which is soft to touch. Inside the bag splits into two compartments on either side with sturdy see through white mesh and zippers to keep everything secure. The bag feels lovely and soft and looks chic too.I will definitely use for weekends away!
Inside you will find these lovely treats from Dove's Shea Butter Indulgence range
Indulgent Nourishment Lotion 250ml
Indulgent Nourishment Hand Lotion 75ml
Purely Pampering Nourishing Body Wash 250ml
As soon as I opened the bag I was hit with that gorgeously rich cocoa chocolately scent of the Shea butter! It's so heavenly...especially for someone with a sweet tooth like me! lol
The body lotion has a slightly lighter texture to the hand lotion as you would expect, both absorb into the skin quickly without it being oily or greasy but giving me a nice sheen. They both leave my skin feeling really soft, supple and hydrated and the divine scent lingers for hours too :-)
This elegant set makes a lovely gift for Christmas or a nice little stocking filler. Dove Shea Butter Indulgence Gift Set retails £12.99 but is currently available at Superdrug for the bargain price of £9.99!
